To be successful in this business you need to stay in constant contact with your SOI. If you were to not communicate with your significant other for weeks at a time, what would happen to the relationship? They would most likely leave you and wonder if you’ve decided to become a mime or something. So why would you expect your SOI to be any different?

You may feel that constantly communicating with your clients is annoying, and well, that’s because if you don’t do it properly, then it is! Sending emails that have no actual substance will do nothing except having your clients send you straight to the spam folder and dwindle down your email list. So not only is consistency important, but CONTENT.

Stop sending emails you hate sending and start proactively engaging with your clients. Not sure how? The number one way to stay in touch and nurture your relationships with your SOI is client events. Not only are you giving your clients something to do, but you’re reminding them who you are and what YOU do. You are showing them you genuinely care about staying in contact with them by planning them an event, and not just telling them that it is time to turn their clocks back. An added bonus, you can actually enjoy the event too, and yes, you can classify drinking with your clients at a bar as a “work meeting”.

Choosing the best event for your clients can be tricky. So, here are a few suggestions: renting out a movie theater, a friend of mine does this twice a year and has around 800 people show up… talk about making a memorable impression! Not a film fanatic? How about renting a bar or event space and let the booze do the work for you! Lastly, if you’re balling on a budget, throw some food on the grill at your place or a park and invite everyone to come!

I can pretty much guarantee your clients would rather get an invite to something like that rather than another random email about some forced holiday like “happy parent-teacher conference day!”. I mean, wouldn’t you?

If you’re worried no one will show up, let me stop you right there and say that even the marketing of the event is still reaching out to your clientele like you typically did with the average email anyways! Except this time, you’re less likely to end up in the spam folder. Whenever someone sees the content of your event, or a video of you, it reminds them that you’re a real estate agent, that you’re alive, and you still care to nurture your database, rather than bore them to death.

Get to planning and go hustle!
